Lose Weight By Biking
So you are interested in losing weight. Well everyone is at some point and losing weight is a good way to both look and feel better. Not only that, but you'll feel encouraged about yourself and have more confidence. A great goal to give yourself when initially trying to lose weight is to try and lose
Some pounds at a time. This should be a reasonable and achievable goal for almost anyone.
So where can I start?
Most people, when they give weight loss a thought, what comes to mind is unappetizing diets or stressful exercise regimens, but it doesn't have to be that hard. If you're interested in losing 20 pounds while still having fun and getting some good air, check out what was probably one of your most loved childhood activities: riding bikes.
There are many advantages of biking, but the top one is that it's really the only form of exercise that can also pass as transportation. The reason it's stressful for most people to lose weight is
because they try to work too much time into their already busy routines. For example, let's imagine your plan is to lose 30 pounds by purchasing a gym membership and going four times a week. While this may be excellent at first, there's a big chance that it's going to start interfering with various commitments: one day you have to stay back at the office so you skip gym; one day you have to pick up your daughter from her dance lessons so you skip. Eventually, you get used to breaking the gym routine because it begins to seem like something "extra" that you don't always have time for.
Now let's say instead of driving to the gym to lose those pounds you decide to bike to church. While it may take a little longer to lose the weight, by biking to places you're really wasting no time at all. If you staying in a city there's a good possibility that it's not going to take you a whole lot longer than a taxi trip does. So basically you end up losing some pounds "for free", as it were because you don't have to create time for exercise.
When you engage in the other popular forms of exercise, you're doing that exclusively: just that exercise, you are nothing else but exercise when you're at the gym. Meanwhile, with biking, exercise is seen as the secondary bonus to the primary plan of getting to the place you need to go. Add to this the fact that your money is saved on transportation and doing good for your environment,
it's hard to win a debate against biking as one of the best types of exercise.
By simply biking to and from the office every day you should be able to lose 30 pounds easily without affecting your schedule too much. If your workplace is far enough distance away from you that you must drive, consider the opportunity of using a bike for errands near your home. And if you want to really lose that weight quickly, start biking for recreation purposes; some Saturdays and Sundays bike riding will do wonders for your weight loss.
